iFixit is hiring a Technical Project Manager to help us lead the repair world into the 21st century. We need to make it so easy to fix things that it’s simpler to fix what you’ve got than replace it with something new.

Powering the iFixit experience is our multilingual content management system, e-commerce engine, and reputation-based Q&A forum. Together, they enable over 100 million people a year to fix things. We’re looking for someone to help us evolve these products so we can help a billion people a year.

We have a strong vision for the future of repair, and we need you to build it. A successful candidate will be an experienced organizer that excels at people development and dealing with ambiguity. They will possess a strong attention to detail, a reputation as someone who focuses on the customer, and bring simplified solutions to complex problems.

One of the reasons iFixit leads the world in repair is because of our engineer-led, collaborative culture. Our project managers work closely with creative and prolific engineers, designers, and community managers to build technologies that improve access to the world's repair information.

Working for a small company on a tight-knit team is a chance to manifest your creativity in a way that will make a big difference in the final product.

  • Plan, drive and complete software projects end-to-end
  • Coordinate with internal teams worldwide on our product strategy
  • Represent the engineering group with partners on projects under contract
  • Utilize data to drive product decisions and our roadmap, and drive the product to meet our objectives
  • Develop and coach team members both on the agile team and more broadly in the organization

You have:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions
  • History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts with a non-technical audience, and manage tradeoffs
  • Launch new products and features, test their performance, and iterate quickly.
  • Own and work with leadership to maintain a prioritized product backlog and collaborate daily with our engineering team to execute
  • 5+ years in project management or a closely related discipline
  • A strong soft-skill foundation to help support the engineering team as it grows

We’d love to see:

  • Experience building an end-user consumer or e-commerce product
  • Experience in managing growth and scaling processes
  • Examples of your writing, either professional or personal
  • A track record of successful product development
  • 1-2 years of engineering or hands-on software development experience
  • 2-3 years of people management experience

A successful candidate will help us build the right things and keep relationships strong. We’re a growing team and want to keep our engineering efforts on the right high-impact projects. As we move into strategic partnerships with allies in the repair space, opportunity will only be limited by our ability to execute. A big part of that is preserving the innovative and creative iFixit spirit while we grow. That is where you come in.
