iFixit is hiring a product manager to help us lead the repair world into the 21st century. We need to make it so easy to fix things that it’s simpler to fix what you’ve got than replace it with something new.

Powering the iFixit experience is our multilingual content management system, e-commerce engine, and reputation-based Q&A service. Together, they enable over 100 million people a year to fix things. We’re looking for someone to help us evolve these products so we can help a billion people a year.

A successful candidate will be an experienced leader that excels at people development, dealing with ambiguity. They will possess a strong attention to detail, a reputation as someone who focuses on the customer, and bring simplified solutions to complex problems.

One of the reasons iFixit leads the world in repair is because of our engineer-led, collaborative culture. Our product managers work closely with creative and prolific engineers, designers, and community managers to build technologies that improve access to the world's repair information.

Working for a small company on a tight-knit team is a chance to manifest your creativity in a way that will make a big difference in the final product.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, drive and complete projects end-to-end
  • Coordinate with internal teams worldwide on our product strategy
  • Utilize data to drive product decisions and our engagement roadmap
  • Develop and coach team members both on the team and more broadly in the organization
  • Build a world-class e-commerce experience by managing our migration to Shopify

You have:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions
  • History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, and manage tradeoffs
  • Launch new products and features, test their performance, and iterate quickly.
  • Own and work with leadership to maintain a prioritized product backlog and collaborate daily with our engineering team to execute
  • 5+ years in product management or a closely related discipline

We’d love to see:

  • Experience building an end-user consumer or e-commerce product
  • Examples of your writing, either professional or personal
  • A track record of successful product development
  • 1-2 years of engineering or hands-on software development experience
  • SQL fluency

A successful candidate will build the right things. We’re a small team and want to spend our engineering efforts on high-impact projects. Here’s some ideas we’re excited about, but maybe you’ll have better ones:

  • Increase organic traffic by creating more community engagement
  • Increase ecommerce conversion rate by increasing confidence that people will be successful with their repair
  • Grow total account signups and repeat traffic by personalizing the experience and showing people information about devices they own
  • Build the technical and user experience foundation to expand our parts selection into totally new markets
