iFixit is looking for a CAD designer/drafter to join our Product Development team. This full-time position will work directly with our Product and Quality Engineers and will play a major role in the development and lifecycle support of all of iFixit’s custom-designed DIY and professional repair tools. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years experience with 3D CAD modeling software in academic, hobbyist, or professional settings, with a supporting portfolio of sample work.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate 3D models and 2D drawings based on concepts and design requirements from Product Engineers.
  • Revision existing 3D models and 2D drawings based on direction from Product and Quality Engineers.
  • Actively contribute to the design and development of new products through collaboration with the rest of the Product Development team.
  • Utilize product lifecycle management software to revision design documentation.
  • Work within and maintain the organization of our CAD file database.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree or higher in CAD or Engineering discipline.
  • At least two years experience (professional, academic, or hobbyist) with 3D modeling and 2D technical drawings. iFixit operates on Autodesk Inventor, so experience specific to Inventor will be a plus, but we’ll train the right candidate who has had experience with other comparable software.
  • Working knowledge of dimensioning and drafting standards.
  • Must be proficient with Google Sheets and Docs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with or knowledge of injection molding and CNC machining a plus.
